Book Signing

Book Signing!

Book Lovers is pleased to announce that our first book signing will be with local author, Steven Manchester, a Westport native. Mr. Manchester will be signing copies of his new book, Jacob Evans. One man. One life. One incredible journey. "Containing thirty-eight complete stories, individually-- everything from heart-warming to bone chilling...each standing firmly on its own. Collectively...these thirty-eight glimpses of life become a simple memoir of one man’s journey, with all the complexities that make such a trip worthwhile."

The signing will be on June 14 from 12:00 to 2:00. We currently have copies of his book available for purchase and preview prior to Mr. Manchester’s visit. We’re hoping to have a great turn-out and want to extend to you a personal invitation to come meet Mr. Manchester, listen to his reading, and enjoy this first time Book Lover event.

Though I’ve only just started to read Jacob Evans at the publishing of this newsletter, it’s fascinating to find references to local businesses and locations in the text, i.e. Our Lady of Grace Church, Potter Funeral Home to name a few. I also have to mention his tribute to the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001 called Mother Liberty which is in the front of the book. It was incredibly well written and touching. Please feel free to ask me about the book (I’ll have finished it by then) and preview or purchase a copy of the book. I’m hoping that we’ll have a good turn-out for the signing... please stop in to meet Steven Manchester and congratulate him on his newest success.

-Cheryl

Book Lovers' "Picks"

Book Lovers' "Picks" Joyce's Deadly

If you’re a fan of Historical Fiction and you’ve missed Brenda Joyce’s Deadly series...BACK UP!!

The Francesca Cahill Mysteries are absolutely engaging. She’s a Crime Solver Extraordinaire in the early nineteen hundred when ladies most certainly did not sleuth! At times funny, often sarcastic and certainly sensual, mostly it’s the characters that just keep you wanting to know more. Rick Bragg, Police Commissioner and Calder Hart, his wealthy half brother are men dreams are made of.

The plots get more twisted as Joyce continues her series. Each leaves you "dying" for the next installment. The Series: Deadly Love, Deadly Pleasure, Deadly Affairs, Deadly Desire, Deadly Caress (rumored to be 5 of a possible 11 in the series, with the next due out in November 2003).

Quick’s Don’t Look Back

If you’ve read Slightly Shady, then you’ll be captured by Amanda Quick’s Don’t Look Back.

The team of Lavinia Lake and Tobias March are continuing with the "business of discreet and private inquiries for individuals of quality". Once again, a good mystery along with the continuation of their romance makes for a winning story line.

If you like Historical Romance, this is definitely a good read. Even if you don’t normally read Historical, the new trend of combining historical romance with a mystery line is a winning combination for readers looking for something new and different.

Making Our "Most Wanted" List You can make someone’s day! If you have any of these to bring in for credit, please DO...lots of people are looking for the ones they missed. Share your favorites with others... Fern Michael’s Texas Trilogy and Vegas Trilogy, JoAnn Ross (CR), Lisa Jackson (CR), Andrea Kane (CR), Kasey Michaels (CR), Christina Dodd (CR), Patti Berg (CR), Maggie Shayne (FAN), J.D. Robb (CR), Barbara Bretton (CR), Sharon Sala aka Dinah Mccall (CR), Mysteries (Pub. Date 1995+), Fiction (1995+), Fantasy/Paranormal (1995+)

A Tisket A Tasket... Who Won The Gift Baskets?

Who's one our contests? If you came into the store during our Anniversary/Valentine’s Day Celebration in February, you probably participated in our gift basket drawings. Since there were three differently themed baskets, we let customers choose which basket they wanted to enter to win. That worked out nicely...it was fun watching people looking over the baskets trying to decide which they liked most. We’d like to congratulate the winners! Donna M. of Somerset - Wintry Valentine basket Janet K. of Dartmouth - Snacks ’n Puzzles Basket. Joseph R. of Fall River - Summer Garden basket. For those of you who participated but didn’t win...don’t despair your next chance is coming. We’re having a Spring drawing that you can enter from May 10-24. Winner to be notified on the following Monday. And...we’re having a Special Summer drawing you can enter from June 1 through June 14 at 2:00 when the winner will be chosen. Best of Luck to everyone!!
